Maras and Moray 1 Day
Suitable for anyone with some previous mountain biking experience, this full day biking trip takes in the stunning scenery of the Sacred Valley of the Incas, and some interesting Inca archeological sites.
We travel by private transport from Cusco to Lake Huaypo just past Chincheros where we begin cycling. We pass Lake Huaypo on gently undulating track through agricultural fields, high above the sacred valley until we reach the site of Moray. We will take some time to visit this inca site which it is believed was used as an agricultural laboratory.
From Moray we continue to the village of Maras. On the way we will have stunning views of the glaciers of Mount Veronica and Chicon. From Maras we descend on a rougher track towards the salt pans, the ‘Salineras’. There are over 3000 salt pans that were constructed by the incas, and are still in use today. Passing the Salineras we continue down to the floor of the Sacred Valley where we will meet our transport to take us back to Cusco.
