Machu Picchu Hotels
Machu Picchu is reached by either train or on foot from Cusco. In the valley below the site, tucked between sheer mountain faces is the small town of Aguas Calientes, also known as ‘Machu Picchu Town’. If you have the time it is definitely worth staying a night here so that you can have two opportunities to visit the site. For the more active visitors there are some short but rewarding walks that offer yet more stunning views of the site. In Aguas Calientes town there are thermal springs where you can relax in the medicinal waters with stunning views of the surrounding mountains.
There is only one hotel situated next to Machu Picchu itself, the 5 star Sanctuary Lodge hotel. The other hotels featured here are all in the town of Aguas Calientes, a short bus ride away from the site and within easy walking distance of the thermal springs.

This popular hotel has pleasantly decorated rooms with small balconies that overlook the Vilcanota river. The friendly helpful staff and warmly decorated open common areas of the hotel make for a very comfortable relaxing stay.

This hotel is conveniently located for the centre of town and the train station. Nearby you will also find many restaurants and amenities. The building itself is modern but it is decorated in a cosy, rustic style inspired by the local surroundings and the helpful staff ensure a high level of personal service.

Inkaterra Pueblo Hotel - 4 Star
One of our favourites, this hotel offers supreme comfort and style while truly blending in with its beautiful surroundings. The accommodation consists of whitewashed cottages set in 12 acres of cloud forest where orchids and hummingbirds can be seen. The rooms are immaculately decorated with natural colours and materials, making this the perfect haven to retreat to after a busy day. Sanctuary Lodge Hotel - 5 Star
This is the only hotel situated next to the site of Machu Picchu. The rooms are modern and have all of the comforts you would expect from a 5 star hotel. Some of the rooms have a view of the surrounding mountains. The buffet and a la carte restaurants offer high standard international and Peruvian cuisine.
