Arequipa Hotels

This beautiful colonial city is known as the “white city” because many of its elegant buildings are made from the local white volcanic stone.  A visit to the Monastery of Santa Catalina is a must. A city within a city, the winding alley ways between the colourful buildings take you back into the past when there were nearly 200 nuns and 300 servants living here.

Arequipa has its own culinary traditions and food here tends to be more ‘picante’ (spicy) than elsewhere in Peru. Picantarias are traditional restaurants that serve local dishes such as ‘Rocoto Relleno’, spicy peppers usually stuffed with beef and ‘chupe’, a kind of chowder.
